Music Video Personal Reflection
Music Video Personal Reflection
Firstly, what went well with my music video in my opinion was the editing. In particular there is a part where someone throws a phone across the screen and then in the next shot someone catches it, this worked out well and looked good in the final music video. The editing also looked quite good at the begging when I got the clips to link up with the first beats of the song I think this was quite effective. Another thing that went well in the music video was the day I chose to shoot it on as the weather was sunny and bright which worked well, however this did cause a slight issue with the lip syncing shot as the sun behind made it hard to recognise and see the lip syncing. What I also think went well with my music video was the choice of song, this song ended up fitting well with the filming of the video. As the song is quite an up-beat and happy song it fitted nicely with the weather conditions of the sun and the location chosen which was school worked with the lyrics which sang about youth and teenage years.
For my next music video to improve I need to focus more on the storyboard and planning, during making this video I tried my best to stick to the storyboard but mainly ended up veering off of the main idea this was because I didn’t really know what I wanted the end result of the music video to look like. To improve on this next time I am going to make a more detailed plan and make sure I stick to it throughout the process of making it, I am also going to get a better idea of what I want the end result to look like by watching professional music videos to give me inspiration. Another improvement I need to make to my next music video is to film more clips, throughout the process of editing I realised that I had to repeat some clips or use very similar clips which then makes the music video repetitive and boring to watch, so next time I need to film a lot more clips to create a more interesting and creative video. Another improvement is to have more lip syncing and make sure it is clear, this happened in my music video as I had a small segment of lip syncing however it was hard to see. Another area to focus on in my next music video would be the costumes and make up, this is important as it makes it look more professional and really brings the music video together. Although the concept of my music video was meant to be at school and the people in my video where in school clothes for next time I think that having specific clothes for people to wear will make the video look a lot more put together and will be more effective. Overall for my next video to improve I will need to be more organised with my planning meaning my storyboard, location, costumes and what i want the music video to look like overall.
